Top Conservative Host Reveals What’s Coming
(Survivaleagle.com) – Former President Trump hasn’t yet confirmed whether he intends to run for office again in 2024, but has hinted that he may be at least considering it. Democrats seem to be taking every possible action to prevent him from moving forward with that potential plan. Mounting evidence suggests that Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) may step in in his stead if they succeed in nullifying Trump’s chances.
Dumping Trump
Conservative podcast host Michael Savage joined “The Count” on Newsmax to discuss the January 6 Committee’s (J6C) crusade to render Trump a sub-optimal presidential candidate before 2024. During the interview, Savage noted that Democrats aren’t the only ones looking to delegitimize Trump; Bush Republicans are also taking part in the same mission.
“It’s the Bush Republicans trying to stop Trump in 2024,” he explained. “They did not want an outsider.”
Former President George W. Bush’s Vice-President Dick Cheney, the father of Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY), currently plays an influential role in the J6C. Savage said that, while he does believe Trump did a good job, he also encountered significant pushback from Cheney and others labeled “Republicans in name only” (RINOs).
Notably, the results of a recent National Tracking Poll from Politico suggest that Trump does at least still maintain some influence over registered Republican voters. Approximately 48% said they would vote for Trump if he ran again in 2024, while 56% labeled him an unfavorable option. But numbers for Joe Biden were even worse across the board: 46% of all respondents said he should “definitely not” run for the presidency again in 2024.
Who Besides Trump?
If RINOs and Democrats succeed in making Trump “untenable,” Savage believes DeSantis will instantly become the next best option. The conservative host explained that while he would rather see Trump serve as the Republican nominee, he also wouldn’t complain about seeing the Florida governor on the ballot instead. Moreover, he is convinced that the GOP will ultimately turn to DeSantis if the former president can’t or won’t run.
Savage labeled DeSantis “bulletproof,” citing the GOP leader’s previous service as a US Navy SEAL and his work in Florida so far. He questioned how Democrats could possibly complain about him as a nominee given his positive track record, pointing out the fact that Republicans and Democrats seem to appreciate his leadership within the Sunshine State.
Governor DeSantis has undeniably made a name for himself by standing against COVID-19 restrictions and mask mandates. While that might seem a largely unpopular move to some, it turned out to be the best choice for Floridians at the time. Would he bring that same energy to the White House?
