US House Staffers Take Advantage Of Jan 6th
(Survivaleagle.com) – It’s no secret that legislators sometimes use taxpayer funds to benefit themselves, and here’s just one example. The House of Representatives agreed to spend nearly $100,000 of taxpayer money to provide members access to a meditation app. Lawmakers justified the spending based on the alleged trauma they and their staff experienced during the January 6 attack on the Capitol.
The $96,000 provides members of the House with a premium subscription to Calm, a health app based in San Francisco. The funds allowed each Representative free access to the app’s meditation, relaxation, and sleep programs. Still, where in the budget did the funding come from to pay for this expense?

Following the January 6 incident, lawmakers passed a $1.9 billion spending package to improve security at the US Capitol. Congress members appropriated a sliver of that budget for the subscription under the House Appropriations subcommittee headed by Representative Tim Ryan (D-OH). They agreed to pay Calm $2 per month for every subscriber for 12 months, totaling the equivalent of 4,000 subscriptions for the 435 representatives, 100 senators, and their staff members.
However, the lawmakers received a significant discount as the average American pays $14.99 for a monthly subscription and $69.99 annually. Republicans claim the move shows just how out of touch Congress has become with Democrats at the helm, calling it reckless spending. Do you agree?
